Namo Fazil added another major victory to his record after defeating Jake Babian by second-round D’Arce choke in a three-round welterweight contest.
The fight placed Fazil on a major MMA card headlined by Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano. The card also featured several known names from combat sports, giving Fazil another large stage to represent Kurdistan.
Babian entered the bout with a 6-1 MMA record and five finishes. Namo Fazil came in with a 9-1 record and seven wins by KO, TKO, DQ, or submission. On paper, it was a matchup between two fighters known for ending fights before the final bell.
Namo Fazil made that clear in the second round.
After working through the early exchanges, Fazil found control and locked in a D’Arce choke. The submission forced the finish and gave him another strong win in his rise through combat sports.
The result builds on a recent run that has brought more attention to Fazil. Kurdish Weekly previously covered his three-round battle against Guilherme Bastos at Karate Combat 58, where Fazil earned a split-decision win in a tough fight that went the distance. That bout took place on December 5, 2025, in Doral, Florida.
That win showed Fazil’s grit. This one showed his finishing ability.
Against Bastos, Fazil had to fight through three hard rounds. Against Babian, he closed the show in the second. The contrast matters. It shows a fighter who can handle pressure, adjust to different styles, and finish when the opening appears.
For Kurdish MMA fans, this is another proud moment. Namo Fazil is not only building his own career. He is also helping put Kurdistan on the map in a sport with global reach.

Each win adds more weight to his name. Each stage gives Kurdish fighters more visibility. With his latest submission victory, Namo fazil has taken another step forward and added another accomplishment to a growing record.
