Kurdistan Region Investment has reached USD 25.298 billion across 856 licensed projects, according to figures released by the Kurdistan Regional Government.

The projects cover housing, tourism, industry, trade, agriculture, education, healthcare, banking, and public services.

The KRG said the investment programme aims to diversify the economy, create jobs, support local production, and reduce the region’s reliance on a single source of revenue.

Kurdistan Region Investment by Sector

Housing received the largest amount of funding.

The sector recorded 102 projects worth USD 8.528 billion. These projects include residential developments designed to meet housing demand and support urban growth.

Tourism ranked second by value. The sector attracted USD 7.914 billion through 118 projects.

The KRG sees tourism as an important source of jobs and non-oil revenue. The projects aim to expand accommodation, visitor services, and tourism facilities across the Kurdistan Region.

Industry and Trade Account for 451 Projects

The industrial sector recorded 205 projects worth USD 4.959 billion.

These projects include factories and production facilities. The government said they will support domestic production and reduce dependence on imported goods.

Trade had the largest number of projects among all listed sectors.

A total of 246 trade projects received investment worth USD 1.902 billion. The projects are expected to support commercial activity and expand markets across the region.

Together, industry and trade account for 451 of the 856 projects.

Agriculture Projects Support Food Security

The agriculture sector received USD 638.3 million through 30 projects.

The projects aim to improve food production, support farmers, and increase the Kurdistan Region’s ability to meet local demand.

Agriculture forms part of the KRG’s wider plan to strengthen food security and reduce reliance on imported products.

Education and Healthcare Receive USD 1 Billion

Education and healthcare projects received more than USD 1 billion in combined investment.

The education sector recorded 73 projects worth USD 551 million. These include education and training facilities designed to serve students and prepare workers for the labour market.

Healthcare attracted USD 451.6 million through 47 projects. The investments include hospitals and other health facilities.

The two sectors account for 120 projects in total.

Sports, Services, Arts, and Banking

The KRG also reported investment in sports, public services, arts, and banking.

The sports sector received USD 150.6 million through 19 projects.

Ten service projects received USD 105.5 million, while three arts projects attracted USD 76.4 million.

The banking sector recorded three projects worth USD 22.2 million. These projects aim to support the region’s financial infrastructure and improve access to modern banking services.

Economic Diversification Remains the Main Goal

The figures show that housing and tourism attracted almost two-thirds of the total investment value.

Industry, trade, and agriculture also received major funding as the government seeks to increase production and expand private-sector activity.

The KRG said the 856 projects will create employment and support a more diverse economy.

The figures were published by the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Department of Media and Information.
