The Kurdistan Region attacks between February 28 and April 20, 2026, killed 20 civilians and injured 123 others, according to data from the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Department of Media and Information.
The report said 809 drone and missile attacks struck several areas of the Kurdistan Region during that period. It said civilians and private businesses suffered the heaviest losses, despite the Kurdistan Region’s stated neutrality in regional conflicts.
Erbil Records the Highest Number of Attacks
Erbil Governorate faced the largest share, with 477 attacks. These included 419 drone strikes and 58 missile strikes.
The attacks killed 10 civilians and injured 83 others. The report also said 726 residents suffered damage to homes, vehicles, and businesses.
Slemani, Halabja, Soran, and Duhok Also Hit
Slemani and Halabja recorded 235 attacks, including 194 drone strikes and 41 missile strikes. Three civilians were killed and six were injured.
Soran district was hit 68 times, with 59 drone attacks and nine missile strikes. Seven civilians were killed and 34 were injured.
Duhok Governorate recorded 29 drone attacks. Private sector companies were targeted more than 13 times, with damage also reported in residential areas.
The KRG report said many attacks struck civilian areas under unfounded claims. It also said a formal request was sent to Baghdad to hold those responsible accountable and protect the sovereignty of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
