The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Department of Media and Information has issued a public statement urging citizens and media outlets to follow strict guidelines regarding the publication of images, videos, and information related to security incidents.

The directive was issued in the interest of protecting national security and preventing potential risks linked to the ongoing regional tensions. Authorities warned that sharing footage or revealing sensitive locations could lead to negative consequences and may assist hostile actors.

According to the statement, anyone who records footage of a drone being launched or falling must send the material only to designated government contact numbers. The department stressed that such footage must not be shared with media outlets or posted on personal social media accounts.

Officials provided the following numbers for submitting footage:

+964 751 504 8007
+964 750 155 8788
+964 750 252 2728

The statement also prohibits citizens from approaching or visiting sites that have been targeted in recent incidents. Authorities warned that filming or publishing images from these locations is strictly forbidden.

In addition, media outlets operating in the Kurdistan Region have been instructed to act with caution when reporting on security incidents. The government specifically urged journalists and news organizations not to disclose the locations of attacks or targeted sites in their coverage.

The Department of Media and Information said these measures are necessary to maintain stability and ensure public safety during a period of heightened regional tensions.

Officials warned that any violation of the issued guidelines will lead to legal action.

The KRG has previously called for responsible reporting during security incidents, emphasizing that the circulation of sensitive information online can complicate security operations and potentially endanger civilians.

Authorities are asking citizens to cooperate with these measures and to prioritize safety by reporting relevant footage directly to the designated government channels.
