The Erbil Road Project will create a new link between the city’s 120-metre and 150-metre roads. The planned route will be 60 metres wide.
The current phase covers 10 kilometres of construction. The full road will span 15 kilometres and cover about 182,000 square metres.
Erbil Road Project to Ease Traffic Congestion
The Kurdistan Regional Government expects the road to improve traffic flow across Erbil. It will give drivers another route between two of the city’s main roads.
Officials also expect the new link to reduce congestion and improve travel between nearby areas.
The project has an estimated cost of IQD 36.3 billion. Work forms part of wider efforts to expand Erbil’s road network as the city grows.
The KRG Department of Media and Information announced details of the project.
