Female Fighter Killed in Sulaimani Drone Attack, Kurdish Opposition Confirms

A female fighter killed in Sulaimani drone attack has been confirmed by a Kurdish opposition group, following a strike that targeted positions in eastern Kurdistan Region.

A young member of the Komala Toilers of Kurdistan died from wounds sustained during the drone attack in the Surdash sub-district, northwest of Slemani. The confirmation came hours after the incident, according to local officials and group representatives.

The fighter was identified as Ghazal Mawlan. Officials said she died due to severe injuries caused by the strike. Two other members were wounded but are reported to be in stable condition.

Attack Targets Kurdish Opposition Positions

The drone attack struck a site linked to the Komala group. A spokesperson stated that the strike was launched from Iran and directly targeted their position.

Mawlan was originally from Mahabad, a Kurdish-majority city in western Iran. Her death adds to growing concerns over cross-border attacks against Kurdish opposition groups based in the Kurdistan Region.

On the same day, another drone strike hit a separate opposition group. A camp belonging to the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI) in Koya also came under attack. No casualties were reported in that incident.

Rising Tensions Despite Ceasefire

The female fighter killed in Sulaimani drone attack comes amid increased regional tension. In recent weeks, Iranian forces and affiliated groups have intensified attacks on Kurdish opposition movements.

These developments follow a broader escalation tied to a large-scale military campaign involving the United States and Israel targeting sites inside Iran.

A temporary ceasefire, brokered by Pakistan, was introduced to allow for negotiations. However, local authorities confirmed that attacks have continued during the truce period.

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) reported multiple violations of the ceasefire, raising concerns about stability in the region.
