Duhok, Kurdistan Region – The 26-kilometre Ba’adre–Etit Strategic Highway Project is moving forward with 68 percent of construction completed. The project, launched at a total cost of IQD 135 billion, is designed to upgrade the Erbil–Duhok road into a modern dual carriageway.
The project is divided into three phases:

First phase (9 km): nearing completion.

Second phase (8 km): currently underway.

Third phase (9 km): construction in progress.

With a planned timeline of 1,800 days, the highway is progressing ahead in key sections. Once finished, the upgraded road will improve connectivity between Erbil and Duhok, reduce travel times, and strengthen economic, trade, and tourism opportunities across the Kurdistan Region.
The Ninth Cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government has identified road infrastructure as a strategic priority. By investing in projects such as the Ba’adre–Etit highway, the government aims to enhance accessibility, support local communities, and advance regional development.
