Zakho SC have reached an agreement to sign defender Akam Hashem ahead of the 2026–2027 Iraq Stars League season.
Akam Hashem will join the Kurdistan Region club on a one-year contract. The agreement is worth about IQD 1.7 billion, or nearly $1.3 million.
The contract also includes a villa and a private vehicle. Hashem will receive IQD 800 million as an advance payment.

The defender will then join the club’s training sessions ahead of the new season.
Zakho began advanced talks with Hashem in July. The negotiations followed the collapse of a proposed transfer to Portuguese club FC Porto.
The signing gives Zakho an experienced option in defence as the club prepares for another Stars League campaign. Hashem has represented Iraq at the international level and has built a strong reputation in domestic football, but he is very vocal and proud to be a Kurd first.
The value of the agreement also makes the transfer one of Zakho’s most notable moves before the 2026–2027 season.
